Well, it may be possible to have a gray stain that is not fogged but I have
never seen it. Gray to me says solid metal has formed. You may be able to
"bleach" that off but I'd hesitate to call that stain. Heat fog can be
caused by your drying technique or light box. Besides light fog and heat
fog, there is chemical fogging. Chemical fog can be caused by either your
coating solution or your developer and developing techniques. If you
humidify too long with some mixes (lithium comes to mind) chemical fogging
of your paper can happen. Your developer will build up waste; buffer, iron
(ferrous and ferric), paper fiber, metal. These should be filtered and
adjusted for on a regular basis to avoid a slow build up that "appears" out
of nowhere. As Sandy suggest, replenish your developer. You may also check
the sp gr of it every once in a while. Water will absorb in to the paper
and get carried away.

Maybe just trying a new fresh bottle of developer is in order. Are you
trying to get cooler more neutral prints with ammonium citrate? How about
just using ammonium palladium with Potassium Oxalate?

Chris, are you going directly into a clearing solution or water rinse first?

Sounds like it may be time for Uni 40's to the rescue. If you have all your
glass at least you can hang your show. Then when your fames come in you can
just hang them empty; like the blank canvas idea. : )

Good luck on it all.
