If you have a deep red piece of mahogany furniture in your home, chances are
it, too, was given that tone using potassium dichromate. In fact, I just
completed a piece for a friend with mahogany accents (actually, the piece of
furniture had the accents, not my friend) finished in that manner. Given
the many different, potentially dangerous chemical compounds used to color
and finish wood, as well as those found in certain species of wood, I would
not recommend gnawing on anything that's not carefully designed for such
mastication.
Oh, and I wouldn't recommend feeding small children alt process prints,
either.

Last night I was watching a woodworking program and was a wee bit surprised
at the end when the woodworker began putting the final stain/finish on the
cherry table: He was using Potassium Dichromate. So I decided to Google
this and typed in "wood finishing with potassium dichromate" and was
surprised by the number of hits I got. Here is one below:
