Logically it should be as you say... What is your experience? I know
you're using both of the mentioned materials...

Assuming all of the printer settings are the same, should not the
density of ink laid down on different OHP materials be very close to
the same? For example, if I print a negative on Pictorico and the
Photo Warhouse Crystal Clear OHP material would one not expect to see
the same density range on both materials?
