the shelf life of 2.5% glut solution depends on the pH, other
preservatives in the solution, temperature, and the container. it's best
to keep it at pH near 4 with some methanol or other preservative, in an
airtight container at refrigeration temperature. this way the stock
solution will keep for years.

glut can go stale because of oxidation and polymerization, and lose
reactivity as a crosslinking agent.
