There is an excellent book THE INS AND OUTS OF FOCUS now out of print and
very expensive used which is available for download (URL at the end of this
message) for $5 and he doesn't even make you pay that till you've read it!
It does explain the question at hand and I recommend the book. I have no
connection whatsoever with the author except that I read and learned from
his book.
