I grew up in Indianapolis and go back several times a year. The Eiteljorg
Museum specializes in western and American Indian art and currently has a
Georgia Okeefe exhibit of her less commonly known works (which I have not seen) .
This may be the best museum of its kind not located in the West. The Lilly
Museum (Indianapolis Museum of Art) has excellent and diverse collections for a
mid size city. Unfortunately both of these institutions are undergoing
extensive expansions and the latter will be closed until mid spring. As for
galleries specializing in photography, the pickings are slim toward none.
Best of luck. It has become a very nice town to visit.
