My understanding is the UV "BL" rated bulbs use for Alt purposes emit mostly UVA (same as tanning beds) and negligible amounts of UVB and no UVC. True some UV bulbs (below 310nm) rated as "G" (germicidal) are used for erasing EPROMs and are useless for photographic purposes. Still it pays to be careful I suppose. Most people should have better things to do than stare at a light bulb anyway.

  Try www.bulbdirect.com for high UV output tubes without the unnecessary "blacklight" coating. Remember not to looka t the light source. Your eyes lack the necessary nerve endings to feel when they are being burned.
