I have used digitally produced slides in the past and was disappointed
with the quality..the pixels show up quite badly in enlargements.The
price was quite prohibitive too. Having said that, both my ability to
produce good files and the equipment for making slides from digital will
have improved in the elapsed four years or so.

Shooting slides of work is tedious and time consuming :-) (Shooting 3D
work is a lot more interesting though)

Using digital output to slides was another context - to make b&w prints
out of digital cameras.
