A book I refer to often is "The New Photography: A Guide to New Images,
Processes and Display Techniques for Photographs" by Catharine Reeve and
Marilyn Sward (ISBN 030680295-3). It is an older book having been published
in 1986, but worth the hunt if you can find it.
Keepers of the light has been mentioned, I believe, and seems to be the
alternative printer's bible.
Books by Luis Nadeau are helpful and interesting
(http://isbndb.com/d/person/nadeau_luis.html).
