They are for printing on pizzas!

Seriously though they are used to aid tracking of Epson compatible inkjet
media through the printer.

Materials such as Ultrafine Clear Transparency Film (and some other
products) are incapable of holding heavy ink loads used for making inkjet
negatives. As a consequence the ink is still "wet" when the printed areas
pass under the "pizza" wheels and cause small tracks to appear in the image
area.
