Sorry, I didn't make that clear; I wasn't. I always print the Stouffer's
side by side with the tonal palette anyway, and on a 31 step Stouffer's I am
only getting 16 or 17 steps. However, what it shows me is that a digital
neg can give me 21 "tones" let's call them, distinctive tones, that will
show up in the final print.
