Michael,

Don't know about Kallitypes but will drop my 2 cents for VanDykes: Even
my double coated VanDykes had relatively weak Dmax. To me, the only way
to get rich Dmax with VanDyke is double coating + toning with gold
before fixing (unfortunately the latter change the nice colour of
VanDyke). Gold toning to completion (or near completion) gives me really
good Dmax with VanDykes.
