VDB

Thanks for all of the replies, I think I isolated the problem. I was storing
the coated paper under plastic containers that were not light tight. The
paper was exposed to small doses of florescent light for several hours. I do
have another question about the precipitate that forms in the solution.
Should I mix that into a suspension before coating or is it best to let it
settle and just use the liquid on top?

I have used very old VDB solution succesfully, although little flakes of
silver seem to precipitate out of the solution.
