Hi Maria,
I just keep on adding the ammonium dichromate to distilled water until
it won't dissolve any more. Then I know I have a saturated solution.
Note: I just add small amounts to a watertight bottle, put the lid on
tightly and shake. It takes a little while for the salt to dissolve.
Once it has dissolved, then I add more and do the same thing. Eventually
it won't dissolve and some crystals will remain in the bottom of the
bottle. Please be careful not to breathe in any of the crystals or get
them on your skin. Don't do it anywhere near a food area, and always
wear golves and apron or labcoat, goggles (to stop small amounts getting
in through eyes) and a face mask, preferably a filter one.

Kate

Maria,
I mix a 30% ammonium dichromate solution (this is close to saturated
solution). My typical gum mix is 6cc of 14 baume gum with whatever
pigment,
6 cc of water and 2cc of ammonium dichromate solution. As yu can see I
measure everything by volume.
Somebody was asking about kalium, it is potassium.
Marek, Houston
