Fujifilm Ag Guard is a product used as the final bath to stabilize
silver image on b&w paper and film. It is somewhat similar in
functionality to Agfa Sistan but it is a better product. Its main
ingredient, 2-(amidinothio)ethanesulfonic acid is manufactured as
reagent by a few chemical manufacturers, but their cost is
prohibitively high. Fuji manufactured technical grade of this compound
in their own plant for photographic applications. However, as of the
end of March 2006, they discontinued manufacturing and sales of this
compound as a chemical stock.

Fujifilm website still lists Ag Guard product, and they probably have
sufficient remaining stock, but following the discontinuation of this
compound in technical grade, it is expected that there will be no more
manufacturing of this product once the stock is exhausted.
