The guy PE, Ron Mowrey, a.k.a. Photo Engineer, is a retired engineer
formerly with Kodak. He is having the stainless steel blades made to his
spec. Apparently it is a coating gizmo intended for coating silver gelatin
paper and film substrates. Whether it is useful for coating alternative
processes is yet to be determined, AFAIK. I imagine the blade was never
intended to be used for iron based processes or gum for that matter.

Anyway, from reading threads at APUG it seems that he and Sandy King may be
able to meet at the Photographers Formulary workshops this summer. Perhaps
Sandy will be able to give us his take on the blades after that.

The photos posted of the blades on APUG really did little to show what they
look like or how they might be used. And they will probably cost a lot more
than a gold plated coating brush. But, you never know the blades may be a
revolutionary product.

As I said before contact PE.

Michael,

Why don't you ask PE since he makes them.

Has anyone been following the thread on APUG on coating blades? Will these
work on any or all alt processes? Has anyone actually used/seen one?
