David,
The response to your questions in the excerpt from the discussion on motives by TK prompts the thought that he might have some problems to be faced.
This response from TK was obviously intended for the great majority of List members to read since it was also posted to the List.
                       Was this also a mistake??
I hope that he gets over whatever it is that seems to be troubling him soon, and that he has a nice summer.
                Stay cool. John.

TK.''David,
''How do you earn a living'' ?
JG.(Is this a general question or a specific one to you, David?)

TK. ''I have been giving this stuff away for thirty years. People are downloading a large number of megs from my site which gets between 3 and 10 thousand hits a week. All for free.''

JG. ( Commendable and charitable but obviously a situation which needs to be reviewed because of dissatisfaction with financial outcome.)

TK. '' Don't you believe it as to great photographers giving it away for free. Read any good books lately ? Did you get them for nothing'' ?

JG. (Most books are accessible from libraries and other information can be scrounged from people by word of mouth or the written word or enjoyable experience. To name but two great photographers from many with with current websites and free info, Alberto Novo on Resinotype and Ernie Thysen on Oil Transfer.)

TK. ''I put in a lot of effort over a long time to get these processes to work. I could have put it all in a book and charged for that.''

JG. (An experience which, I am sure, is very familiar to many of us. Join the club ! ! )

TK. ''I am a photographer not a chemical supplier. Kits are a very expensive way of buying basic chemicals.''

JG. ( So conversely, of course, a PDF is a very cheap way of marketing information, but 16 GBP for a PDF by email is still quite expensive compared to the price of a small book or pamphlet.)

I really do hope that he gets over whatever it is that seems to be troubling him soon, and that he has a nice summer.
Business is what you make it.
