image transfer

Has anyone ever tried to transfer the image off a photograph onto
another surface?

I'd like to do something like a xerox transfer... though I'd rather have
the actual emulsion from the print rather than making a photocopy and
transferring the toner.

I assume the photograph I'm using will be destroyed in the process.
that's OK.
