Time to get the ball rolling...

Hi all,
Seems the numbers on the list have increased slightly since
"advertising" on rec.photo and PHOTOHST - from 7 to 41 in under a week.
Anyway, just a bit of info, and to answer a few questions...

There was a question as to why passwords are required. This is a
"feature" of the mailing list software, one which I can't find a switch
for, and as I haven't time to hack the sources at the moment, one which
will probably stay for a while. The idea is to have it so no-one can
falsify messages to the list from you (by changing your email address).
Doesn't really concern us with a publicly accessible list like this.
There was also a question to the list regarding positions in
photography in Australia. Sorry, I can't help with stuff like this. I
know there is a uni/college in Melbourne which has a photography school,
but don't know which it is, or how to contact them. Sorry.
Someone also complained about difficulty in understanding the
HELP messages the listproc produced. I will look into this, and try and
make them a bit more like plain english.

This list is ostensibly for people to share recipes, tips,
sources of supplies, and ask questions about why things don't work, how
to make them work better, etc. I'd really appreciate it if some of you
would share some of your favourite recipes to get things moving. Any
recipes that do come across the list I will be compiling into a recipe
book so you can have all the info handy in one place. This will be
available, nicely formatted, via the "get" option of the listproc, as
well as via anonymous ftp. But I need some recipes to get started. I
will let you know when it is available.

So come on folks, get them recipes out!

cheers
-steve

p.s. I am always open to suggestions on what you would like to
see on the list. Feel free to email me privately, or share them with the
list.
