Coating Paper with a glass rod...

I just tried coating some Kallitype paper with a glass rod. It
works wonderfully with the heavier papers, but it doesn't seem to
work with Cranes Kid. It looks like the paper boughs to quickly, and
certain portions (the ones that sink) don't get coated. By the second
stroke, I'm only pushing seperated drops of sensitizer rather than
an even line. Will I have to return to my foam brush for this paper? :(
