Information gained from the internet is generally free. As such,
it is worth what you pay for it. People will frequently give you "facts"
which are in fact merely opinions. Personally, I always adopt the most
pessimistic opinion unless I have informed information to the
contrary. With regard to chemicals, always assume the worst.
As far as this mailing list is concerned, I can accept no
responsibility for any information which comes across it. The uni that
owns the machines and internet feed I use don't even know this list
exists, and so I would be surprised if they accepted any liability. As
far as I know, Australian law won't hold me accountable for any
information which comes through this list (although, of course, US law
might, but I ain't in the US am I?).
When it comes to the disposal of chemicals, I would think most
of us would be conscious of our environment and collect all waste,
let the water evaporate out of the solution, and contact our state or
federal environment agency as to how to go about disposing of possibly
toxic chemicals. Of course, be careful about mixing any solution
sludge. If you're worried about any questions, tell them you found it
under the house.
When it comes to safety with chemicals, just about every
government on earth requires a manufacturer or supplier to provide
adequate information as to the proper handling of such
substances. Sometimes you may have to ask, but the information will be
available.
