I did some this way and didn't have a great deal of trouble - just used a
small pestle and mortar fairly gently to mix them. However I didn't try
a very great range of pigments as I was working in blacks and browns
only.
It's worth a try, but there are so many slightly different ways people do
the process that what worked for me may not for you. I had the pigments
for other purposes, so I tried them and they seemed to work.
