Hi, I used to work along side a scanner operator, and I was responsible
for mounting the slides for scanning. We used to use baby oil, and seal it
in really good so it didn't come flying out when the drum started spinning.
It works excellently, allthough I couldn't tell you about the long term
effects on your negatives. It should clean right off with film cleaner.
