I have students produce enlarged negs this way for various processes. You
get some interesting results, but not usually the equivalent quality as
using photographic film.

You can get really excellent results for other processes such as platinum
if you have a good printer with rather higher resolution - say 1200 dpi.
Gum actually lends itself to working with half-toned negs as you would be
doing - it removes the main intrinsic defect of it as a process.
