The reduced silver in a P.O.P. print is very fine, and the chemistry
(an excess of silver nitrate in the emulsion) is such that the image is
very easily dissolved away. I would suggest using a plain hypo
(Sodium Thiosulfate) fixer, dilute, and don't overfix! Perhaps a
10% hypo solution would be enough. Of course, the image can be
toned, thus increasing its opacity. The toners used on POP usually
contain gold, though I would think that a copper toner or intensifier
would work OK, while keeping the reddish color. A two-part iron
blue toner might also work. I have no idea what chromium intensifier
would look like, but it also could strengthen the image.
