An easy relatively cheap source of UV light is a self-ballasting mercury
vapour lamp. These lamps screw into a standard incandescent fixture.
They come in a number of wattages - about 120W and up. Some are
specifically made for medical equipment where UV light is required. Any
large electrical supply shop should carry them. Cost is usually $50.00
and up.

I don't remember the exact details, but I recall carbon arc lamps are
more than a little hazardous for your health if not used correctly.
