Since I was the target of the original remark, perhaps I should reply.
First, I was not carrying on a private conversation. I was complementing
a member of the group for a great idea and at the same time requesting information. I ignored the "mini-flame" because I felt that recognizing it would
only encourage the originator. Then I typed "delete" with great satisfaction.
My feeling is that from the start this has been an informal group engaged
in the friendly trading of information because of a common interest and
love of alternate processes (sp?) and photography in general. I hope I
am right about that. If so, we don't need any more rules, flamers or
policepersons telling us what to write and how to write it. Those who don't
agree with this have the option of going away and pestering someone else.
A recent retiree from our art faculty who has been involved in some
contraversy latly, made the remark that he just wanted to "make art" and
"play with his grandchildren" after retirement. It sounds good to me.
However, I would add, "I would like to talk to some pleasant and friendly
folks who also love alternative photographic processes."
