Given the time of year, and the volume of bounced messages I'm
receiving, if I get two bounced messages which are intended for you, I
unsubscribe you from the list. This isn't a malicious act - I get over
fifty messages a day, and some thirty of them are generally relating to
the list. If I don't act, that rapidly multiplies.
The moral is: If you don't get a message for a few days, you may
have been unsubscribed. To check this, send the message
review alt-photo-process
to listproc@vast.unsw.edu.au, and check to see if you're on the list. If
you're not, simply resubscribe using the command
sub alt-photo-process Your Name
Of course, if you're going away for a while, and want to
discontinue mail until you get back, you can use the command
set alt-photo-process mail postpone
until you get back, when you should send the message
set alt-photo-process mail ack
which will start mail up again. Anything you missed can be retrieved
from the archives.
If you are leaving your place of study or employment, please
unsubscribe before your account disappears using the command
unsub alt-photo-process
If you forget, and you manage to get another account, email me and I'll
do it for you. This will save me bounced error messages.
If you have any problems at all with the listproc, email me and
I'll try to help. Keep in mind though, I'm only at uni two days a week,
so a reply may be a bit late in coming (but it will come).
On a separate note, please consider the people on the list that
pay for their email feed when you are posting messages to the list. This
includes those binary files we get every now and then, replies to
surveys and the like, replies which include the full original message
including header, and occassionally how to make a million dollar
scams. Thankfully, the listproc bounces messages from people who aren't
subscribed, so you should never see that sort of thing (but you'll never
believe the sheer volume of stuff people try to force on you).
In addition to the large messages, please remember that although
a single line message may be short, it also contains a fairly large
header, and takes time to read. Please make it worth reading, or address
it through personal email.
This list is intended to be a forum for the friendly exchange of
ideas and information on alternative processes. Please leave the flaming
to personal email or alt.flame. I recently posted a message in which I
tried to convey this message, but didn't express myself very
well. Anything to do with alternative processes is fine (even
composition I suppose), but please, no personal attacks.
cheers
