One of the more comprehensive books published in recent times, in English,
on the subject is

Elizabeth Glassman & Marilyn F. Symmes: _Clich=E9-verre: Hand-Drawn,
Light-Printed: A Survey of the Medium from 1839 to the Present._ Detroit
Institute of Arts, 1980.

on the Net.
