Gum Bichromate and Platinum Prints; Ambrotypy

One prints in platinum, then applies the gum solution. Not being able to
afford platinum during my lean years, I made salt-gum prints - salted
paper prints with a gum printing on top. A beautiful combination.
Cyanotype-gum is also nice. Don't try it with Van Dyke, though; the Van
Dyke printing disappears.
I second the notion of not using pot. cyanide in ambrotype making. I
knew a fellow who was a little less careful with cyanide than was good
for him - certainly sobered me up on the dangers of the wet-plate
darkroom.
