Some carbon printers recently discussed this very issue on the carbon forum. It does appear that glycerine speeds up the dark reaction, but not so much as to interfere with consistent results if standard working procedures are followed.
Since "glycerine" & "glycerol" seem here to be used interchangeably, I surmise same thing. FWIW, I mention that I had several formulas for silver gelatin printing in which print was soaked in a bath containing glycerine to keep them flat. I didn't find it much use in flattening, but didn't seem to hurt the prints.
