That's a possibility but in order for your theory to be true
you have to prove that the platinum-catalyzed decomposition is
the rate limiting process. I think the supply of the
pollutants may very well be the slowest step in an average
archival storage condition.

Anyway, the catalyst action of these metals can be
significantly weakened by using an agent that acts as a
"catalyst poison."
