Re: tri-color & one-color

Thanks, Henk.  That's interesting.  I keep wanting to try powder pigments-- mainly because at my local art store here, they have them all lined up in little glass jars on multiple shelves-- and they look so inviting.  Using powder pigments seems like it would be a lot more satisfactory, in many ways.  I imagine it's harder to use?  Really lovely image (both!).

Hi Diana,
Several coatings, often i start with powder pigment -in this case blue- , several drops of 90% alcohol , and prussian blue gouache.
Some way or the other the pigment gives me a sort of desirable grain. After that i continue with watercolor (i 'collect' colors when i am visiting cities , so there are blues like 'delfst blue', 'windsor blue' and a lot more ... and i mix until i am happy - or down the drain ).
The format is for both some 40x50 cm.
Cheers,
Henk

These are beautiful, Henk.  I love looking at your work; thanks for posting these.  I especially like the one-color.  Was it just one coat, one color, or multiple coats, one color?
