I agree. It's not necessary, but if many of the list members want it, it
could be shorter. On the MS Outlook I use, I have a specific folder, linked
to a specific rule, where all the messages coming in automatically goes to.
So the messages don't get mixed up with other ones on the main box. They
have their own.

Sure, it definitely helps in the process of identifying the source.
But there are other ways (noted by Richard K. also, such as filtering
/ organizing / tagging by sender address and such), the original list
was working well w/o subject prefix... Couldn't we shorten it a little
bit, at least? (Something like [alt-p] maybe?) It's really too long
now; we loose exactly 25 characters in the subject; that makes
something a little more than 1/3 line...
