[alt-photo] buffered mat board in the real alternative world

The following stems from unearthing a stash of buffered Light Impressions
mat board at my mom's house and budgetary constraints.

How bad is buffered mat board for alternative processes? Perhaps one should
consult *The Permanence and Care of Color Photographs* by Brower and
Wilhelm, but I was interested to see what the list is doing i.e what's going
on in the real alternative world.

Knowing cyanotype's sensitivity to alkaline environments, I have always
avoided boards loaded with calcium carbonate but what about vandyke brown
which has an image resulting from the remaining silver and not iron? Is gum
sensitive to pH above 7? Does anyone use the presentation boards that aren't
buffered but contain wood pulp?
