I always treated the silver ammonium etc complexes extremely carefully when
I worked with them, having had the same thoughts as you about their possible
explosive nature. Perhaps I was lucky, but I worked on the assumption that
so long as they are kept on solution they are not too dangerous.

Of course as a schoolboy long ago I learnt how to make the chalk explode
when the unfortunate master went to write on the board.
