When I said last week that Croda's minimum order was 25 kg it was a warning for
our own sakes that this is a manufacturer not eqipped to run a retail operation.
That is not what they are for.
It will cost Croda something of the order of fifty pounds, $75, to send out a
sample of a couple of hundred grams with no prospect of a significant sale.
If more than half a dozen people make such a request, the goose that lays the
golden eggs is going to be killed off.
Isn't it possible for people to get together to share an order for 25 kg the
factory gate price of which is L212. That is what I do with my students and
colleagues.
It would be quite possible for me to set up a commercial organisation to supply
Gloy and ossein in retail amounts. But that is not what I am for.
Silverprint sell the ossein in small quantities over the counter but the
problems associated with export of small quantities are too great to make mail
order an economic proposition.
Would it not be possible for the justly famous B & S, whose views on cake
making and alternative photography run on parallel tracks to my own, to buy in
in bulk to sell on.
I have spent twenty years finding inexpensive sources of these products for
myself and my students and friends All the details will be included in my own
book on alternative processes which is being prepared at the moment.
If any one has details of reliable and inexpensive suppliers I would be
grateful for them. Everyone would benefit straight away if you were to send them
via the list but it would probably be more than a bit off listish, and Steve
does this for love not money.
Luis's comments on copyright are also highly pertinent
