In principle:
A 'normal' B/W print on a suitable paper is bleached and tanned, washed,
fixed, washed and dried again.
Now you have a more or less white sheet of paper again with the gelatine
carrying the original image as a relief and the ability of absorbing
water proportionally to the origal image.
Now the paper is soaked and the gelatine will swell and absorb water according
to the original image, by this accepting or not accepting oil-based ink.
Now with a brayer or a special brush ,stiff ink is put
on the paper in a way that the image is coming back (remember : as a child we
put a piece of paper on a coin, rubbing with a pencil over it, and the queen
was appearing on the paper; or is this just nostalgia?)
That is the secret.
If you have more specific questions..............
