ADMINISTRIVIA: List problems...

Hi all,
In case you haven't noticed, the list has been misbehaving. It seems to
have taken out the mail server at this site once or twice, and has
fallen over itself twice so far today.
Every time I restart the list, it attempts to pick up where it left
off. This may mean that people that were having mail delivered to them
will get the message twice.
Add to this the fact that I have no idea what happens when the mail
server runs out of disk space, and you can see things are a little
flakey at the moment.
Please bare with me as I try to remedy the situation. I appreciate all
the feedback I get when things go wrong (ie. you're getting multiple
copies, many many copies, bouncing messages, etc). However, due to the
sheer volume of mail I'm having to deal with at the moment (around 400
messages a day), please forgive me if I don't reply individually.
The machine the listserv account lives on is being upgraded on sunday,
so to prevent any problems, I may turn the list off either late saturday
or early sunday, and turn it back on again on monday morning. Hopefully
this will insulate the list from any catastrophe, but please be aware
that while the machine is being upgraded, any mail to the list will
bounce directly back to you with a "Command not found" or something
similar message. While the list is turned off, mail is spooled and will
be sent when it starts up again.
I'm sorry about the outage yesterday (it was a public holiday here,
ANZAC day, and I wasn't in). I'm also sorry about the bugs in list
behaviour at the moment.
If you have a RECURRING problem with the list (ie. it happens more than
twice), let me know and I'll try and fix it.

cheers
-steve
