With Platine, I am using about 2.4 ml for 8x10 and 3.5 ml for 7x17,
but divided between 2 coats. I tried single coating this paper, but
saw a marked improvement by applying 2 relatively thin coats instead.
Give it a try if you haven't already...

I totally agree on both points. However, there are times when the
lighting of a scene will not produce a perfect platinum negative no
matter how it's developed. Dichromate in the developer has provided
me a way to increase the print contrast and still make beautiful,
smooth, creamy prints. There are also those negatives I have that
were not originally intended for platinum. I can now make very nice
prints from those as well. I made one print using the No. 6 dichromate
mixture (fairly high contrast) and there is absolutely no apparent grain.
Here, let me hold it up to my monitor so you can all see it....
Not bad, eh?
