Bob and Karl-Heinz

I develop amidol at 20 C.

For 'self-masking negs I rate the FP4 at 32 ISO.

Development for a silver gelatine print at 125 ISO is about 90s.

Development for a self-masking negs is about 2 mins 15 s, ie over exposure and
over development to increase contrast and sensitivity to shadow detail.

The Iliffe Dictionary of Photgraphy was published between the wars, WW1 and WW
II that is. I have the fourteenth and seventeenth editions. It is old enough for
some of the historical processes still to be current but new enough for much
current practice to be included..
I suggest that you try UK or Commonwealth book sellers as I do not know if it
was distributed elsewhere. John Benjafield, who is on the list, would be a good
start..

Incidentally when I have given this recipe on workshops women have readily
understood it and men get completely lost..

Let me know how you get on.
