Thank you for the formal posting of the dangers of formaldehyde.
Very useful to all of us using it/no longer using it. It's been a long
volley.

To Fellow Gummists-

Though I have no official information regarding the archival properties
of chrome alum; I do have a sizing method which employs it. I use it for
van dykes and gums and have never had any staining or registration
problems. It is mixed with the gelatin, not added at the end of the
sizing process. I'd be happy to post or email the method to anyone
interested.

BTW the hazards of chrome alum are in the archives about mid march this
year (let's not do that again ;-).
