I am having two problems that have suddenly appeared and after two weeks of
testing with no results I thought I'd put it out to the group. The given:
emulsion mix of 6-0-6 using hot potassium oxalate developer and clearing in
hydrochloric acid. After coating and drying the paper is run through the
process with no exposure and there is a definite "pink" cast to the emulsion
area after clearing. This was repeated with a different paper and the
results where a grey color where the emulsion was. Obvious fogging? After
adding 6 drops of hydrogen peroxide to the emulsion the cast is much less
apparent but still visible with the paper that produces the pink cast and
almost gone with the paper that produces the grey cast. I realize that the
first thought is bad ferric oxalate but the pink color has me thinking it
might be something else. All paper and chemicals are constants that I have
been using for years and other than working in a new darkroom there have been
no changes. Beginning fog and clearing tests in the new darkroom produced
good results. All water is distilled. any ideas?
