I was in Santa Fe in May an visited several galleries where the
distinction was loudly and visibly obvious. The Curtis prints are still
all the rage and it seems that mysterious versions have come onto the
scene in recent times. I'm at a loss to explain the price of
nostalgia..even for photogravure!!
It reminds me of the English "antiques" that make it to the states which
are well crafted mismashes of old wood (from furniture, fixtures,
moldings, etc. from bombed out homes) that was plentiful after the war.
It might not be a real antique, but it looks old and is old, so what the
heck I'll pay the price of an antique. Go figure.
Later.

BTW, I did an all day workshop in photolithography. Transferred photos
from xerox copies and laser prints...worked pretty well. What was really
nice was to choose which paper to print on, from Rives BFK, to Somerset
Satin, to a japanese rice paper...now those are "alternatives" I would
like to continue to live with.
