Yes! (although with lots of difficulties...) A few years ago, a student at the
Technical College of Cologne (Fachhochschule Koeln), Dept. Photoingenieurwesen,
did her diploma thesis on Lippmann plates and I remember very well the day when
I met her there and she proudly presented one of her first succesfull color
photographs. I also was happy because she allowed me to get rid of a bottle of
mercury I still had in my darkroom.
Her written work can be borrowed from the school, but I am not sure how long and
wether they send it overseas. The student's name is Karin Bernhardt, the thesis'
title I don't have at hand, but it sure was the one and only work on Lippmann
plates during the last 50 years or so... BTW: Her work will be presented at a
big symposion on 19th century photography at Dresden in the summer of 1998.
