This was definitely not my experience. After printing Van Dyke Brown made
with tartaric acid (classic formula as in Nettles & Crawford) for several
years, I tried a formula very similar except using a different acid, which
as I recall was citric. Without fail, this emulsion washed right off the
paper in either the first wash or the fix.
