Because green ammonium ferric citrate is unavailable, and out of =
desperation, I developed a new formula for the Van Dyke that I would =
like you people to try and comment upon.
The idea behind the preparation was the fact that some RC papers have =
developers in their emulsions.
I call this my KIII Van Dyke:

Start with The Keepers of Light formula for Van Dyke printing, but use =
brown instead of green ferric ammonium citrate.
To 12ml of the prepared solution add:
3ml of gum arabic (with or without pigment)
3 drops of HC110 ( the very concentated solution, as it is sold by =
Kodak)!!!!!!!?
2 drops of potassium dichromate saturated solution

Develop in water, or for really crazy effects in a highly diluted =
solution of Dektol ( 1:50).
Fix as for other Van Dyke prints.
(By the way can someone tell me why this works when in fact it should =
not?)

Yes, after 40 years of photography (I started when I was 6), "the ready =
interaction, the improvisation, discovery, the benefit of trial and =
error" as Judy puts it so well, still makes photography more and more =
interesting everyday.
