My thanks to Terry King, who earlier this year spearheaded an English
position to deal with contrast control via platinum-palladium
concentration variation vs the more American position of dealing with
contrast control by using chlorates.
After printing more than 75 prints during the holiday season, by using
the metals only for contrast control, my results were GREAT!! The only
down side is that my mixes are now in the 8 platinum to 2 palladium
range. I can go to 9 to 1 at most. 10 to 0 and the images
fog/solarize. Such proportions are a more expensive, but my customers
have been very pleased.
The other item I have changed after much battling to save the reputation
of the lowly foam brush, which I have used to coat with for six years,
is the puddle pusher. If you are not using the glass rod to coat, then
one needs to try it. It is far superior to handcoating on anything
at least above 4x5.
My last god bless here is to publicly thank Richard Sullivan and Melodie
Bostick of Bostick and Sullivan for the consistant quality of there
products and there good cheer. I met them for the first time two months
ago after having acquired product from them for seven years, and they
are quality people.
The alt proc list is doing great, a few glitches getting off track, but
there is great info traveling over these lines. My thanks to all!!!
