It is certainly a very nasty price from Alfa, but I used to manage quite
nicely with iron(III) nitrate, potassium oxalate and a pinch of oxalic acid
(see archives!) which together cost very little - I think the ferric nitrate
was the most expensive at around 20 UK pounds per 500g.

Some people may know iron(III) oxalate better as ferric oxalate by the way.
