I originally got interested in these processes when I started working on my
family genealogy, and wanted to know more about preserving old family
photographs. I had thought that there should be some basic guidelines that
museums use to handle their collections, but had no idea that there were so many
different processes. The more I read, the more interested I got, and the more I
thought it would be fun to tinker with them. Right now, my primary activity is
making copy photographs for my genealogy project. However, I have been
tinkering with carbon printing whenever I can find the time. I've also started
collecting samples of the old processes, Daguerreotypes especially.
